Slow Return

July 11, 2023 by gnfoster

I’m back, slowly.  Just was too busy there for a while, then a stroke took me out for a while.  Most difficult few months in my life.  Still recovering, but slowly able to get out and about  and get some things done that I had to put off during this time.  Driving again, short distances/time behind the wheel.  Emotions and anxiety was affected.  Still some difficulty typing and vocally communicating.  Very little energy at times (mornings usually), poor sleep, clumsy, light headed, unwieldly at times when doing physical activity.  Part of that is because I spent 6 months on the couch “resting”.   Just typing this is exhausting.  Fingers are finally starting to work together on the keyboard  Getting better though.

Recently set up a new website for Mark at Camp Shenandoah Springs newest venture, Vector7Ministries.  New website setup for me. The Red Barn Garage, highlighting my projects.

2:30 AM, I should at least go to bed, even if I don’t fall asleep until 4AM

Where’d ya go?

February 8, 2021 by gnfoster

As you can see from the infrequency of blog posts, I don’t do much here any more.

The menu to your left, is up-to-date with the current websites I have created and (mostly) maintain.  I currently host most of these sites with GreenGeeks.  If I take on more customers, hosting will have to be considered on an individual basis.  Pricing will definitely vary.

The main websites I currently update are my work website, of which we have recently started blogging on.  Thanks to the recently economy issues, we have had a very slow year in the Live Event industry and some of us are not able to work full-time.  C&H Audio Visual continues to surely move forward. Even though my position as Technology Coordinator hasn’t been in high demand, I have enjoyed keeping the public and our clients informed through our website.

Being laid-off for the last 11 months, has allowed me to get very much done around the “farm”.  Gardens, chickens, tiny home building, etc…  I learned some things I needed to know, some things I didn’t need to know, some things I didn’t want to know,  some things I wish I didn’t know and some things I didn’t know that I didn’t know.

With this time I have also maintained websites for two of my autos.  My 1979 Malibu wagon was completed in my spare time before the unfortunate lay-off, but I have kept the website up to date as needed.  My 1966 Chevy C10 build was started before being laid-off and on the road in the last few months.  I built this website as a blog whereas my ’79 Wagon site was more of a single paged “feature” format.  With 66c10.com I continue to update with posts of work as I go along with “feature” pages.

I’m not doing anything with the 100 Dollar Bill Cards business because the cost and inconvenience of printing is not worth what I would have to charge for the overall work of each design.  I have left the website up for now as a reference for ecommerce options.  Also because of this, I have lost the high rankings in search engines for this site.

Most of the other clients have taken to update their own websites.

What you lookin’ at?

new hosting server

July 14, 2016 by gnfoster

I finally got smart and gave up on Lunarpages hosting service. Even with all they said they did, their security was SEVERELY lacking. All but maybe on or two secondary sites have been moved to InMotion Hosting. Much more expensive, but so far it’s been worth it. Unfortunately I will have to pass this cost along to clients when their renewal period rolls around. No new clients as of late. I really don’t want any right now. The current ones are keeping me fairly busy and I have a full schedule outside of C&H and Upstairs Room.

I did some extra KASA “commercials” for them this year for their upcoming Leadership Development Institute they have each year including the usual Fred Awards videos for 2016. I moved all of the past Fred nominee videos to Youtube during the Lunarpages trouble.

Lots of other things happening including renovating the old Transform Us bus into new (permanent) living quarters. Lots of trade skills needed there. Design, Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, Etc… and even Welding. I am trying to learn enough welding to get the needed work done myself. Time will tell. Overall, the project is coming along well despite some distractions and hopefully will be done and moved into by this fall sometime. When all is done, I will share some photos of the process along the way.

I’ve had some distractions, but distractions like this out the back window are nice though…
